Art Competition Details
What images reflect your feelings about America today? Are you worried about our political state? Our changing climate? The reality of the American dream for your family and others? Are you horrified by what you see, or do you have renewed hope for the future?
Regardless of your opinions or nationality, we welcome images that evoke the broad range of emotions and events of this astounding period in United States history. All capture methods and processes are welcome. We anticipate a varied and interesting exhibition!
Jim Richardson will jury, State of America. Jim is a photographer for National Geographic Magazine and a contributing editor for its sister publication, TRAVELER Magazine. His work takes him around the world, from the tops of volcanic peaks to below the surface of swamps and wetlands. He has photographed more than 30 stories for National Geographic.
In addition to his color photography, Richardson has built a distinguished body of black-and-white documentary work about rural Kansas life. Richardson speaks nationally and internationally. He lives in Lindsborg, Kansas, where his work is featured at his gallery, Small World.
Jim will select 35 images for exhibition in the gallery, and an additional 40 images for exhibition in our online gallery.
The Juror’s and Director’s Awards and up to three Honorable Mentions will be awarded.
Recipients of the Juror’s Award and Director’s Award will be entitled to a portfolio review by Jim Richardson. All 75 selected images will be reproduced in the exhibition print catalog and remain permanently on our website, with links to photographer’s URL. Gallery exhibition opens January 3, 2018.
