Established by Justice Centre Hong Kong in 2013, the Hong Kong Human Rights Arts Prize (HKHRAP) was created to raise awareness and funds for the front-line work of the Centre. It has played a pivotal role in discovering and encouraging Hong Kong-based artists to explore the state of human rights both at home and abroad. The arts prize offers a platform for the artists to create work without boundaries to magnify the impact and exposure of their stories.

The HKHRAP is open to all Hong Kong-based visual artists who enter an artwork around the theme of human rights. Entries are judged by an esteemed panel of experts from Hong Kong’s arts community and the winner will receive HK$35,000 and an exclusive prize package donated by sponsors, partners and members of the local art and media community. Two runners-up and a Directors’ Choice will also receive awards.
